Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Stacy, and I'm a veterinary nurse who is currently studying canine behaviour. I'm so excited to share my journey with you through this blog as I learn about the fascinating world of dogs and their behaviour.

I've always been passionate about animals, and that's what led me to pursue a career as a veterinary nurse. I've been working in the field for several years now, and I've had the pleasure of working with a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, and even exotic pets.

My own furry companion is a Border Collie named Tigger. She’s been my loyal companion for 15 years, and she’s been my inspiration for studying canine behaviour. Through my studies, I've learned so much about dog behaviour, including how they communicate, their instincts, and their social behaviour.

I've decided to start this blog to share all the amazing things I'm learning about canine behaviour with other dog lovers. I want to help pet owners better understand their furry friends and build stronger bonds with them. I'll be sharing tips on training, behaviour modification, and much more.

I chose the name ‘Limbic Tricks’ because I don’t want to teach dogs to just ‘behave’ and do everything we tell them to do out of fear or worry, I want them to have a healthy, balanced and resilient brain to be able to deal with the many stressors that life throws their way. This is important because unfortunately, when owning a dog it is impossible to prevent them from ever coming into contact with negative things.  The limbic system is a complex region of the brain that plays a crucial role in emotions, motivation, and behaviour; understanding this  will help us achieve adaptable and resilient dogs, therefore, we will have dogs that can mentally recover and learn from negative experience – after all a little stress is good for us!

I believe that positive reinforcement is key to shaping a dog's behaviour, and I'm excited to share my knowledge and experience in this area. I'm also passionate about helping people understand the importance of socialization and mental stimulation for dogs.

I hope that my blog will be a valuable resource for anyone who wants to learn more about their dogs and how to provide the best care possible. I look forward to sharing my insights, experiences, and tips with all of you.

Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I can't wait to connect with all of you!
